At age 14 the author spent a year in Bombay, India, with his family while his father was on assignment there. In the early morning he would go into the living room to read. When he turned on the lights he would see cockroaches scurrying across the floor to hide under the surrounding chairs. Years later when the author’s son was the same age in boarding school he corresponded with his son by writing this book. The story is about a little cockroach named Kruton, which, the author imagined, was one of the cockroaches he had seen in Bombay. Kruton describes the dangers in the life of a cockroach, his struggle to grow up, and his battle with his parents over his love for his girlfriend Timna. It is an entertaining story for both kids and grownups.
